BMW ActiveHybrid 5 Concept Expected to be Unveiled in Geneva

While the 1 Series Coupe ActiveE is set to debut in Detroit next month.The unofficial news reveals that the next model to receive a hybrid powertrain after ActiveHybrid 7 and the ActiveHybrid X6 which is officially launched,is the new 5 Series. BMWBlog reveals that the new concept version of the ActiveHybrid 5 will debut in 2010 Geneva Motor Show.

The ActiveHybrid 5 will not follow the engine as in the case of ActiveHybrid X6 which is powered by a V8 engine.The new ActiveHybrid 5 is expected to come powered with 218 horsepower six-cylinder engine mated to a 40 horsepower electric motor.

ActiveHybrid 5 features the same Bluewater metallic, which is specific to the hybrid concepts and comes with several aerodynamic elements including lower ride height, more sculptured skirts and aerodynamically enhanced wheel covers aimed at lowering drag.The production of BMW ActiveHybrid 5 is expected to debut in late 2010(not officially).
