Subaru changes design strategy

Subaru design chief Osamu Namba has announced that the Japanese carmaker will rethink its design strategy in order to appeal a wider audience. The new models will have modern and clean lines, inspired by the Hybrid Tourer Concept presented at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show.


During an interview with AutoWeek, Osamu Namba, 54 years old, General manager of the design department has announced that the company is working on a new design strategic direction in order to widen its customer base.

Namba revealed that the new models will feature simple and clean lines.

The family-design will build on the latest Legacy sedan and Outback wagon, with some modifications, in order to achieve a stronger presence, thanks to more defined elements, include the front fascia, bumpers and a side accent line.


Namba was hired by Subaru in 2008 and his portoflio includes the Hybrid Tourer Concept presented at the last Tokyo Motor Show.
