La Sapienza University: Master in Product Design / Automotive


La Sapienza University of Rome in partnership with Maggiora and Carrozzeria Viotti has organized a 1-year Master in Product Design focused on rapid manufacturing and automotive design. The deadline for application is 15 December 2010.

The DATA Department and the Laboratory Sapienza Design Factory at "La Sapienza" University of Rome have launched a Master's degree in Product Design for Rapid Manufacturing.


The 2010-2011 edition will be focused on Automotive Design and will be conducted in partnership with Maggiora Automobili srl and Carrozzeria Viotti Torino.

The Master is targeted to those interested in entering the design and production supply chain of the Automotive industry, with a sppecific focus on the use of Rapid Manufacturing in the vehicle development process.

The Master is organized by Sapienza University of Rome in collaboration with Maggiora Automobili srl (www.maggioraautomobili.com) and Carrozzeria Viotti Torino.

Both the companies have advanced production facilities, and their clients include Ferrari, Maserati, Fiat, Pininfarina, Iveco, MagnaSteyr, Smart, Honda, Mitstubishi Motors, Subaru, Kia Motors, Nissan, Laika.

The Master's programme will last 1 year and will be divided into 4 didactic Steps for a total of 60 university credits.

Each Step includes lectures, seminars, workshops, study tours, practical and operational activities of the laboratory study.

The activities will take place:

* in Rome - at the DATA Department and Laboratory Sapienza Design Factory;
* in Carmagnola (Turin) - at Maggiora Automobili srl and Carrozzeria Viotti Torino's facilities.

The cost of the programme is € 8,000.00. Maggiora has made available 2 study grants that will cover the tuition fees and will be awarded to the most deserving students, based on curriculum presented.

The Master's programme is open to Italian and foreign candidates with a 1st level undergraduate degree or an equivalent qualification. The number of places available is 35.

The application form must be submitted by December 15, 2010. Participants will be selected based on the presented CVs.
