Choosing Auto Insurance

Auto InsuranceAuto insurance is a state-administered and every individual who drive needs to declare financial accountability before they can register their cars. Though the community might administer the bottom limits of accountability drivers need to insure, they repeat on telling drivers what to do about the actual expenses provable. There are particular issues to consider when selecting a car insurance policy.
If you did not spend cash in obtaining your automobile because it is through loan or leasing contract, better study your financing arrangement along with your financial agreement. There are also financing firms that limit the maximum inferable you can obtain from your car policy to retain in settlement with your auto financing. Also you need to determine your available capital. An inferable isn’t a one-time expense, if you are disastrous to have several car accidents, you will have to spend with your own money for the quantity of every single claim. Always select a provable that you can manage to pay for each separate claim.
Another is to recognize the make and year model of your vehicle. Car insurance deductible requirements for contemporary luxurious cars differ from the automobile deductible necessities for cars over 10 years. Make some research on the average expenses of repair for your car before analyzing what type of insurance to take. It is also essential to recognize the missing funds expenditures opposed to the superior insurance savings. The larger the inferable, much money will be able to save on premium and oppositely. Have the insurance personnel to give some financial figures. Analyze the distinctness between the loss of capital costs and the potential premium savings and obtain with something that can exactly fit your money.

Jeep is finally getting a pickup… kinda

jeep gladiatorconcept1 630op 399x300 Jeep is finally getting a pickup... kinda
During a roundtable meeting in Detroit, Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne confirmed that Jeep will be getting a new model in the near future, one that he’s classifying as a “multipurpose” vehicle fitted with “a truck bed.”
Although Marchionne stopped short of calling the Jeep a pickup, he did reference the 2005 Gladiator concept (above) and said “there’s better than a 50% chance that you’ll get one.”
Just as intriguing, the perpetually sweatered-CEO told the assembled media that the cargo-hauling Jeep will come to market whether the Ram brand likes it or not, saying, “They’re totally peeved off at the fact that we’re going to have anything that looks like a pickup truck with a Jeep badge on it. I actually think there’s space for it.” So do we Mr. Marchionne. So do we…

Price dropped on Cameron’s home from

camerons house2 1294364735 450x257 Price dropped on Camerons home from
Highland Park, Illinois is home to a very special house. Architecture buffs will recognize 370 Beech Street as a steel and glass building designed by notable architects A. James Speyer and David Haid. To auto enthusiasts, however, 370 Beech is where one unforgettable movie Ferrari met its tragic demise at the hands of Cameron Frye in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. It’s also for sale. Still.
We first told you about this house last year, when it was listed with an asking price of $2.3 million. Guess what? It never sold and the price has come way down. Today, the so-called “Ferris Bueller house” could be yours for just $1.65 million. If we had the means, we’d love to park Zach Bowman’s International Pickup in view of nature and nosy neighbors… so he could kick it through the glass when he finally loses his mind.
What say you, Autoblog reader – Is the house is worth the dough or is it just “something d-o-o economics?”

Shelby builds 1000+ rwhp twin-turbo GT500 prototype

lead code red shelby gt500 450x253 Shelby builds 1000+ rwhp twin turbo GT500 prototype
There’s so much going on at SEMA it’s all-too easy to miss a few things. And while there are a ton of Mustangs, one would think that this Shelby prototype would have caught our attention – particularly since we were aware of its existence. Back in September we reported that on some potential future Shelby models, one of which was a 1,000 rwhp twin-turbo GT500.
Nicknamed “Code Red,” this particular GT500 was created in collaboration between Shelby American and Nelson Racing Engines – the same firm responsible for the 1,800 horsepower Mosler MT900S. The heavily modified 5.4-liter V8 features twin 61mm Turbonetics turbochargers along with a dual fuel system that includes cells for both race and street gas as well as an electronic boost controller that can vary boost for each gear.
If Shelby offers a production of the “Code Red” GT500, expect plenty of other goodies to be included like Baer 14-inch brakes, Shelby/Eibach adjustable suspension system, 9-inch Currie rear end, 10-point roll cage, and plenty more? Price tag? Shelby estimates that the package (car not included) would cost around $100,000.

Fitting Retirement: Grand Marquis last Mercury off the line

02mercmarquis07hr 450x300 Fitting Retirement: Grand Marquis last Mercury off the line
The signs have come down and retail production ended back in October of 2010. Now, the very last Mercurymodel has rolled off the assembly line. This last Mercury somewhat fittingly takes the form of a Grand Marquis reporting for fleet duty. It was built at the St. Thomas plant in Ontario, Canada, which is the same facility that continues to produce the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car for fleet and livery duty.
St. Thomas’ days are numbered, however, as the factory is slated to close on August 31. When it goes, thePanther platform is likely to follow. So long, and thanks for all the fish memories.

Chrysler Town & Country set to reclaim minivan sales crown from Honda Odyssey

01 2011 chrysler t and c 12844841171 450x285 Chrysler Town & Country set to reclaim minivan sales crown from Honda Odyssey
Is the real swagger wagon of 2010 built by Chrysler? If you go by total sales, it is. The Chrysler Town & Country has been a player in the minivan market since its arrival in 1990. Now in its fifth generation, the Town & Country has just been refreshed after a comprehensive redesign in 2008. It’s not alone in getting an upgrade, however, as some serious competition arrived from Japan in 2010.
All-new minivan models for 2011 include the Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna and Nissan Quest, with each of them stuffing a ton of features into modern packages. The Odyssey, which has been the segment’s best-seller for the last two years, has had a strong year. Yet despite serious pressure in a surprisingly strong minivan market (2010 will see the segment’s first volume uptick since 2005), the Town & Country has climbed the sales board and is poised to take out Japan’s finest.
According to The Detroit News, the T&C is sitting on 102,495 sales through November, while its closest competitor, the Honda Odyssey, has sold 98,035 units. Trailing further behind those two is the Sienna with 89,509 sales so far this year. There is one month left but Chrysler’s, familymobile seems to be sitting pretty.

Chevrolet Volt, Ford Explorer named Detroit Free Press Car and Truck of the Year

2011chevroletvoltopt11 450x279 Chevrolet Volt, Ford Explorer named Detroit Free Press Car and Truck of the Year
As more and more Car and Truck of the Year awards pour in from a variety of major publications, it’s no shock that the 2011 Chevrolet Volt continues to take home top honors as the best car of 2011. Both Motor Trend and Automobile have deemed the Volt their Car of the Year, and General Motors’ high-profile EV is even a finalist for the prestigious North American Car of the Year award. (Our readers, however, would apparently rather see that honor go to the 2011 Hyundai Sonata). Thus, it’s no surprise that the Volt was just named Car of the Year by The Detroit Free Press.
03 2011 ford explorer fd 1293722209 Chevrolet Volt, Ford Explorer named Detroit Free Press Car and Truck of the Year
Similarly, the 2011 Ford Explorer is in the running for North American Truck of the Year, and the Detroit Free Press is honoring it as the best ‘truck’ of 2011. Freep auto critic Mark Phelan states that in the road ahead, automakers must choose the “right shade of green” for each type of vehicle. Phelan explains:

“The Volt allows most owners to go weeks or months without stopping at a gas pump. The Explorer recasts America’s best-selling SUV in a fuel-efficient new form based on the same chassis as the Ford Taurus large sedan.”

Facing high gas prices, dealers get cautious with big SUVs

2533523995ec6a90446ez 450x254 Facing high gas prices, dealers get cautious with big SUVs
The average gas price in the U.S. is over $3 right now, and there’s a good chance it’ll go higher before too long. What do you do in this situation if you’re a car dealer with a lot full of SUVs and big crossovers? You start being cautious.
That’s the takeaway point from an Automotive News article, with the key quote coming from a New York Ford dealer, who told the industry publication:
SUVs are still important in this area, but people are downsizing to more fuel efficient SUVs instead. We are still stocking with the idea that it may go either way. Hoping for the best, but prepared for anything.
For the moment, gas prices aren’t high enough to make people panic and try to offload their gas hogs the way we saw in 2008, but Kelley Blue Book analyst Alec Gutierrez told Automotive News that SUV sales could drop “dramatically” once gas reaches $3.50 or $4 a gallon, saying, “The days where a dealer could just go to auction and stock up on a bunch of SUVs and hold them for 40 or 60 days are over.”

Why, yes, that is a Tata Nano covered in pure gold

web630 tata nano gold entry 2 409x300 Why, yes, that is a Tata Nano covered in pure gold
Try to imagine the most basic car on the road, and you’ll likely conjure up images of the Tata Nano. The Citroën 2CV of our time, the Nano was conceived as bare-bones, bargain-basement transport for the masses. But while it makes the rest of us wonder how much our own cars are really worth, sales of the diminutive budget car have been lagging in the wake of safety concerns after cars were reported to be spontaneously combusting due to bad wiring and such.
To drum up enthusiasm for the Nano, Tata has brought in one of its subsidiaries, Titan Industries, to give the car a more luxe appearance in the form of gold and jewels. Celebrating the 5,000th anniversary of Indian jewelry, Tata and Titan launched a public campaign to solicit designs for a bedazzled Nano. Thirteen designs came in, with the winner you see here chosen just a few days ago. The conspicuous one-off will be crafted out of pure gold by Titan at its facility in Bagalore. Have a closer look at the winning design, along with a couple of the runners-up, in the gallery below.

Project Kahn, Cosworth squeeze 500 hp out of diesel Range Rover

web630 rr vogue4 450x250 Project Kahn, Cosworth squeeze 500 hp out of diesel Range Rover
There’s a grand tradition to enormously powerful and torquey diesel sport-utes. Most of them come from the Volkswagen group – like the Touareg V10 or the Audi Q7 V12 TDI – but this, as you might have guessed, is no VW. It’s a Range Rover, uut one that’s been thoroughly worked over.
The modifications have been carried out through the joint efforts of Project Kahn and Cosworth – two British tuners that have been working together for the past couple of years. Their latest product started life as the thoroughly capable and luxurious Range Rover Sport with the 4.4-liter V8 diesel. With 313 horsepower, the diesel Rover is hardly a slouch, but Cosworth has taken it a step further (and then some) by squeezing out a whopping 500 horsepower.
To go with the massive upgrade in output, Kahn has given the Range Rover an extensive cosmetic update both inside and out, with new bumpers from and rear, side skirts, 22-inch wheels and an interior decked out in billet aluminum and perforated & quilted leather trim. Check it out in the high-res image gallery below

Rumored Jeep pickup far from a done deal

gladiator 630 399x300 Rumored Jeep pickup far from a done deal
Please join us in a collective sigh of exasperation. According to Automotive News, the much-rumored Jeep pickup that had us all salivating earlier this year may be little more than hyped-up vaporware. It would seem that while Chrysler’s off-roading arm is game to create a small pickup once again, the vehicle isn’t as writ in stone as we were all led to believe. From what we can tell, Jeep is facing some grief from the Ram squad for wanting to play in their sandbox. Additionally, all of Chrysler is staring at a pretty hefty dearth of engineers, so adding another ground-up build to the company’s already sizable honey-do list isn’t exactly on the table.
And what of the military-spec Jeep truck currently on sale elsewhere around the globe? Automotive News says that Chrysler thinks it wouldn’t be worth the effort (or money) to try to dilute that vehicle down far enough for civilian duty. Maestro, cue up the sad trombone, if you’d be so kind.
That means that we can probably scrap the notion of seeing Jeep pickup by next year as we were initially led to believe. If the vehicle does manage to get past all of the hurdles before it, the pickup likely won’t see the light of day for a good long while.

Next Nissan Sentra to look more like a baby Altima?

stress ball money DS04AP 450x298 Next Nissan Sentra to look more like a baby Altima?
It’s not that the Nissan Sentra is a ‘bad car,’ so to speak, but it’s about as exciting to anyone with even a modicum of automotive enthusiasm as a haircut. Sadly, that milquetoast feeling even extends to the more powerful SE-R and 200-horsepower SE-R Spec V. Said another way, the current Sentra is a long time gone from the SR20DE-engined B13 Sentra SE-R of the early ’90s.
But there may be light at the end of the tunnel: Nissan knows that its current Sentra is too boring. Al Castignetti, Nissan Division Vice President of Sales recently admitted to AutoWeek that “We miss the heart of the market right now. A lot of people reject the Sentra because of its looks… it is not a natural progression to move down to it from the Altima.”
While you could certainly argue that the Sentra needs more than just a restyling – like, perhaps having more content and sporting potential to properly differentiate itself from the almost-as-large and significantly cheaperVersa – looking more like the handsome Altima sounds like a solid step in the right direction.

Paris : Range Rover Evoque shows up ready for production

leadrangeroverevoqueparis 450x298 Paris 2010: Range Rover Evoque shows up ready for production
Land Rover’s critical new Range Rover Evoque debuted today at the Paris Motor Show, ushering in a brave new world for the British off-roader brand. The debut continues the company’s march toward the softroader segment, a movement first started with the LR2/Freelander and now resulting in the handsome new three-door seen here.
Slated to be joined shortly by a five-door version, the compact Evoque fits right into the Land Rover mold design-wise, albeit with a surprising amount of surface jewelry for such a sleek two-box shape. From the protruding fog lamps to the horizontal matte chrome-trimmed hood intakes to the unique divots atop the wheel lip moldings and the somewhat fiddly taillamp lenses, there’s quite a bit to draw one’s eye. The overall impression one gets of the vehicle on the show floor is one of imposing width, a feeling that’s magnified when you realize that an individual of average height can see over the vehicle when standing next to it.

Land Rover Evoque won’t get hybrid

web630 rrevoquedynamic5dr03hr 432x300 Land Rover Evoque wont get hybrid
Despite the fact that Land Rover has gone out of its way to promote its new Evoque as an environmentally friendly alternative to its normal brand of behemoth globetrotting earth movers, Auto Express reports that the front-wheel drive (optional all-wheel drive, naturally) unibody Rover won’t be getting a hybrid powertrain option.
Instead, Land Rover’s global product director John Edwards suggests that any future electrically assisted powertrains will likely be featured in the larger Discovery (LR4 in the States) and Range Rovers. Edwards points out that the Evoque was designed as a lightweight machine, and a small four-cylinder diesel engine can provide the kind of fuel mileage targeted for the model.
While it’s certainly true that hybrid componentry adds complexity and weight, American and Japanese automakers have proven that it’s certainly possible to put the fuel-saving bits and pieces in smaller-sized vehicles. What’s more, diesel vehicles aren’t exactly commonplace on American roads or dealerships, leaving us to wonder if the U.S. market will be left out of the high-mpg loop yet again.

Mini Cooper: Mini Mini rumored to be in the works

Post by: Automotive

Wolfgang Armbrecht, head of BMW's Mini brand recently hinted that a smaller small car may be in the works. In an interview with Germany's Financial Times Deutschland, Ampbrecht admitted that Mini may develop a small car for parent company BMW. We've actually heard these rumors before when talk sprang up about the potential for a BMW 0 Series.

If the thought of a Mini Mini crossed with BMW parts makes you excited, you're not alone. Who could say 'No' to the Ultimate Go-Karting Machine? As of yet however, there are no reports of a build timeline or potential specs, but a glimpse of what's to come is said to be earmarked for next month's Detroit Auto Show.

“With the new 2011 Jeep Compass, we’ve applied the premium design cues of our award-winning new Grand Cherokee,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO — Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “Combined with new interior appointments, and refinements to the suspension and steering systems, Jeep Compass provides consumers the ultimate combination of styling, capability, fuel economy, efficiency, safety and value in the important compact-SUV segment.”

Design

The new 2011 Jeep Compass has a distinct family resemblance to the all-new, premium 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

With a new hood, new front fenders, new fascia and new headlamps as well as a new grille that has been detailed with a small dose of chrome surrounding the traditional seven slots found on all Jeep vehicles, the new face of the Compass features a more serious, yet sophisticated, appearance. Forward lighting performance is improved with the use of quad reflector headlamps, and the fog lamps are now high output projector lamps. Adding an element of muscle, the hood has been enhanced with a subtle power bulge. The result is a vehicle that projects an attitude that is much more serious and conveys the Compass’ capability in all weather and driving conditions.

New brightwork throughout the exterior lends an upscale touch without compromising the off-road performance of the Compass. A band of protective cladding has been added for 2011, serving to fend off debris when driving in challenging weather conditions or off-road, and providing a new appearance.

This trend continues with enhancements to the rear of the Compass. A new rear fascia, new body-color rear spoiler and subtle, upscale touches including new LED taillamps and on the Limited model, bright trim on the step pad and a chrome exhaust tip adorn the new 2011 Jeep Compass. Topping it off, a new set of roof rails were designed with a slimmed down appearance and a small amount of brightwork. The 2011 Compass sports new, standard 17-inch aluminum wheels, and 18-inch aluminum or chrome-clad wheels are available on Limited models.

Interior upgrades for the 2011 Jeep Compass include new soft touch front-door trim panels with a padded upper surface; a new center armrest; a new Jeep steering wheel with integrated controls that allow the driver to operate the radio, cruise control, available handsfree phone and other vehicle functions while keeping their hands on the wheel; new cloth interior with premium cloth bucket seats in the front; standard speed control on all models; new backlighting of door switches, door locks, windows and power mirror controls.

The new 2011 Jeep Compass offers an array of clever features consumers will appreciate whether commuting to work, driving in challenging weather conditions, exploring new trails or out-of-the-way places. Uconnect media center with iPod interface, SIRIUS Satellite Radio, navigation with SIRIUS Travel Link, power sunroof, a premium audio system with nine Boston Acoustic speakers, illuminated cup holders, liftgate speakers and fold-flat rear seats are some of the available cool features that make the Compass the perfect compact SUV, enabling consumers to enjoy any adventure.

The 2011 Jeep Compass is packed with standard features that provide value and convenience for drivers and passengers. Standard features include air conditioning, power windows, power locks, power/heated exterior mirrors, keyless entry, aluminum wheels, fog lamps, cruise control and sunscreen glass.

New for 2011 the Jeep Compass offers an All-weather Capability Group option which includes Goodyear 17-inch all-terrain tires, all-season floor mats, daytime running headlamps, engine block heater and tow hooks.

Segment-leading Capability

The 2011 Jeep Compass offers customers unsurpassed 4x4 off-road capability with Jeep Freedom Drive II. The new Jeep Compass also boasts a retuned suspension for 2011, with higher spring and damping rates, added rebound springs, and an increased diameter of the rear sway bar. Despite these numerous capability features, the 2011 Jeep Compass boasts unsurpassed 4x4 fuel economy in its segment.

Jeep Compass is available in three drivetrain configurations. In addition to the standard front-wheel-drive system, Jeep Compass also is available with Freedom Drive I and the Freedom Drive II Off-Road Package.

Freedom Drive I is an available full-time, active four-wheel-drive system with lock mode designed to give drivers year-round assurance with the ability to handle rough weather and low-traction conditions. This active four-wheel-drive system is recommended for daily use, including slick conditions that come with rain and light snow. Freedom Drive I also features a lockable center coupling, giving drivers the ability to put the Jeep Compass in four-wheel-drive lock mode to handle deep snow, sand and other low-traction surfaces.

The Freedom Drive II Off-Road Package is an available four-wheel-drive system that delivers Jeep Trail Rated® capability in Compass form. The Freedom Drive II Off-Road Package includes a second-generation continuously variable transaxle with low range (CVT2L) that engages when the off-road mode is activated, 17-inch all-terrain tires and aluminum wheels, a one-inch raised ride height, a full-size spare tire, skid plates, tow hooks, fog lamps and manual seat height adjuster. The available Freedom Drive II Off-Road Package is recommended for moderate off-road situations that include steep grades, occasional wheel lift and rock or log climbing.

The 2011 Jeep Compass’ powertrain is designed to deliver world-class performance in all weather conditions, fuel economy and refinement, all at an affordable, value-packed price.

Compass features a standard 2.0-liter World Engine for the Compass and Latitude models that provides 158 horsepower (117 kW) and 141 lb.-ft. (191 N•m) of torque coupled with the continuously variable transmission (CVT2), and delivers unsurpassed 23 mpg in the city, and 29 mpg on the highway when mated to the five-speed manual transmission.

The proven 2.4-liter World Engine produces 172-horsepower and 165 lb.-ft. of torque and is available on all models and standard on the Limited. This 2.4-liter World Engine has dual Variable Valve Timing (VVT) on both intake and exhaust camshafts, which helps optimize the torque curve at all speeds and produces more power, better fuel economy and smoother, quieter operation than engines without dual VVT. Dual VVT is a technology typically not available on vehicles sold in the United States in the Jeep Compass’ price class. The Jeep Compass’ 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a five-speed manual transaxle in front-wheel drive configuration delivers unsurpassed 23 miles per gallon (mpg) in the city, and 29 mpg on the highway.

Jeep Compass also features a standard five-speed manual transaxle on the entry-level Compass and a CVT that is available on the Compass and standard on the Latitude and Limited models. The Compass’ CVT2 is a second-generation CVT that Chrysler Group engineers calibrated for pleasing engine response and precise ratio control. CVT2 contributes to a fuel economy improvement of 6–8 percent compared with a traditional four-speed automatic. The Compass CVT2 also improves vehicle performance compared with a traditional automatic transaxle because of optimized gear ratios, especially in the 30–60 mph range during passing maneuvers.

The 2011 Jeep Compass also provides up to 2,000 lbs. of towing capacity.

Jeep Compass Model Lineup

The 2011 Jeep Compass is available in three configurations: Compass, Latitude and Limited. All are available with front-wheel drive, the Freedom Drive I full-time, active 4x4 system or the Freedom Drive II Off-Road Package full-time, active 4x4 system with low-range capability.

The 2011 Jeep Compass is available in the following exterior colors: Blackberry Pearl Coat, Bright Silver Metallic Clear Coat, Bright White Clear Coat, Brilliant Black Crystal Clear Coat, Deep Cherry Red Crystal Clear Coat Deep Charcoal Gray (limited availability) and Mineral Gray Pearl Coat (late availability).

Built at the Belvidere Assembly Plant in Belvidere, Ill., the new 2011 Jeep Compass models will begin to arrive in Jeep showrooms in December 2010.

New Lexus RX450h 2011

Post by: Automotive

Lexus RX450h has been completely redesigned for 2010, and Lexus has introduced minor changes to the year 2011. Over the years, Lexus has been setting the standard for the crossover segment, Lexus decided that messing with success is not the way to go.

The new RX is grown in almost all its dimensions than previous generations, but the end result is a better looking vehicle overall. While the previous generation RX looked bubble, the new RX has sharp bends and its maximum and then give an attractive appearance.

The new RX headlights, taillights and grille are much more aerodynamic and a spoiler mounted on the roof gives it a sporty look. Lexus identifies with hybrid formations Logos blue-trimmed, tinted headlights, tail lights and our test vehicle also came with 19-inch wheels. We think Lexus has done a great job in refining the exterior of the 2011 RX450h and it's really a vehicle other than looking over the competition.

Lexus 450h shares the inside with his brother, non-hybrid, the only difference is the display that shows information about hybrid. Like any other Lexus, the interior quality is first rate and the RX is loaded with high-tech options such as heads-up display, CD changer, navigation with Bluetooth audio and XM Satellite Radio. The best thing about the RX is the Remote Controller that really puts the Touch iDrive and similar systems to shame. We played with the controller and were amazed to see how simple life can be.

RX 450h is powered by 3.5 liter V6 is carried over from last year's model with the combined production of 295 horses. The Atkinson cycle V6 with the help of electric motors hour increases fuel economy by about 10% over the previous generation RX. Lexus engineers have mounted a DC 288V Ni-MH battery under the rear seats that receives power from two or three engines, depending on FWD or AWD configurations.

Overall, we believe that Lexus has really learned this segment of the crossover and now with a hybrid variant are a force to reckon with. It 's true that there is someone available for Highlander Hybrid does not want to spend more than $ 51K, but Lexus has a cult following. In this day and age we all pay for the brand and Lexus RX450h is no different. So if you have a small family and are cautious green then RX450h is a perfect purchase. It is a crossover of performance, but anyone in the market for a hybrid is well aware of this fact. We really think that Lexus RX450h is for someone who cares about energy efficiency, yet still want luxury - Lexus RX450h is exactly that!

Post by: Automotive

With the anticipation of fans around the world at its peak, the BMW M GmbH introduced the newest member of its product family intimate. For the first time, M coveted badge has been given to the popular 1-Series BMW 1-Series in the form of all-new BMW M Coupe. Badge M submitted after two years of the development process through the BMW M engineers and test drivers achieve extraordinary power delivery and a signature, near-perfect driving behavior of the BMW M cars. 2011 BMW 1-Series M Coupe will be available in limited quantities and with limited options on the Official BMW Center in Spring, 2011.

"Eigenwillig," the German word for "self-willed," "individual," and "decided to go their own way," has been the right word to describe the M car is unique and impressive than the last three decades. With the original 1988 BMW M3 as his inspiration, 2011 BMW 1-Series M Coupe combines the raw ability of a racing car with the agility, flexibility, and a seated position from a compact sedan to the BMW Ultimate Driving Machine ® makes pure. Thus, the BMW 1-Series M Coupe continues the tradition of BMW M. eigenwillig With the latest two-door model, BMW M is to describe the ability to build a performance car racing into a small car, capable of daily use.

Dimensions and Construction

New BMW 1-Series M Coupe has been developed for near-perfect balance and footprint, a large square. It is 71 inches (1803mm) wide - 4.8 inches (122mm) wider than its 1988 ancestor M3 - but only 1.3 inches (33mm) longer at 172.4 inches (4379mm) long. New BMW 1-Series M Coupe weighs in at 1495 kg DIN (£ 3296, the beginning), and features a wheelbase (2659mm) 104.7 inches, three inches longer than the M3 of 1988. Front and rear track width is exactly the same on the BMW 1-Series M Coupe at 60.7 inches (1542mm) each. Compared with 2011 BMW 135i Coupe, BMW 1-Series M Coupe is 0.2 inches (5 mm) longer, 2.1 inches (53mm) wider, 0.5 inches (13mm) taller, and rides on a 104.7-inch same (2659mm) wheelbase. Features a track 2.8 inches (71mm) wider in front and 1.8 inches (46mm) wider in the rear, and DIN weight 35kg (77 lbs, preliminary) less.

New BMW 1-Series M Coupe features a high strength steel unibody, with a unique, widened fenders and rear quarter panel to house track widened substantially. He also has a metal roof panel that saves about 35 lbs (15kg) compared to the BMW 1-Series models are equipped with a moonroof. 2011 BMW 1-Series M Coupe, built as one of the most BMW vehicles performance-oriented in recent years, may not be offered with a moonroof. This weight savings - at the highest point of vehicle - provide an appropriate reduction in the center of gravity, which contributes to enhanced driving dynamics. It also helps maximize head room (or space helmets, such as might occur).

Engineering chassis is "faster than the engine"

Providing sure-foot responsive handling for high performance, powerful and luxurious coupe, while keeping mass under control, presented many challenges for the engineers of BMW M. The result is an aluminum suspension which was originally for the current generation M3, and tuned specifically for this model in the BMW M Nurburgring Nordschleife test center. Of course, every BMW design begins with preparing the main components in a way that allows near-perfect front / rear weight balance (51.7/48.3).

Almost all aluminum front-end components, including front struts, swivel bearings, central subframe and an additional impetus panel below the engine serving to maximize lateral stiffness of the entire front.

At the rear axle, subframe, transverse arms, arm track, and wheel hubs have been reviewed by M to the ideal kinematics, geometry and stiffness. Virtually every detail on the five-arm rear axle made of aluminum and a new generation of BMW M cars, including aluminum dampers.

Both front and rear axles feature hollow bar anti-roll optimized for function and body weight. Combining two additional longitudinal reinforcement bars, axle kinematics tailored to the perfect way to track a whole and the character of the car. As a result, both in terms of stability and weight, according to the balanced performance concept of every BMW M vehicles.

Compounds Brakes and Wheels

A powerful braking system suitable for a car with performance that far was originally developed for the current generation BMW M3. The players internally-vented, cross-drilled iron discs measure 14.2 inches (360mm) diameter in front and 13.8 inches (350mm) at rear. Featuring large compound disc brakes and electronic anti-lock, stopping power for the BMW 1-Series M Coupe a strong, precise and consistent. Each disk is connected to a floating aluminum hub by cast-in stainless steel pin. This configuration reduces the thermal load on the disk, thus improving their performance and service life. An electrically-driven pump provides the vacuum system.

Service - and safety - is enhanced thanks to an integrated wear indicator which, through a dash display, allows the driver to monitor the condition of brake. Brake Service - closed for four years or 50,000 miles under the BMW Ultimate Service - thus can be given when necessary without guesswork.

BMW 1-Series M Coupe is equipped with a wheel, M light-alloy-specific cross-talk from the M3 Competition Package and GTS limited-production M3. They measure 19 x 9 inches with low-profile tires 245/35/R19 on the front and 19 x 10 inches with tires 265/35/R19 in the back, and silver in color.

In the BMW 1-Series M Coupe, the transmission power to the rear wheel also provides an ideal base for exciting driving dynamics because of segregation of duties consistent drivetrain and steering. Steering rack-and-pinion equipped with hydraulic power steering system called Servotronic, which regulates impulse in relation to road speed.

Engine

Heart of every BMW is the engine, and an inline-6 with exceptional performance, behavioral free-revving, and pushing and shoving endless BMW 1-Series M Coupe. This concept is known: in the history of BMW M models, high-revving inline-6 is one of the classic machine formats. In the second and third generation of the BMW M3, the-inline 6 became famous because it combines high output, sharp response, and a loud voice. In the BMW 1-Series M Coupe, the inline-6 engine concept embodied in the most up-to-date form.

twin-turbocharged, all-aluminum, 3.0-liter inline-6 engine is characterized by instantaneous response to accelerator pedal, sounds fantastic, and free-revving spirit. The combination of low-mass turbochargers and twin BMW High Precision Injection direct offer naturally-aspirated engine output will only be able to provide through movement of more cylinders and bigger.

The system was developed for the engine turbocharger 1-Series BMW M Coupe maintain high output throughout the engine speed range. Maximum output of 335 hp (250 kW) delivered at 5900 rpm. nominal peak torque is 332 pounds-ft (450 Nm) from 1,500 rpm to 4500 rpm. Redline is 7000 rpm. An enhanced engine management system BMW 1-Series M Coupe includes electronic overboost function which briefly controlled increase torque at full load conditions by another 37-lb ft (50 Nm). This peak torque of 369 temporary lb-ft to give the car a substantial increase in acceleration. BMW 1-Series M Coupe will complete the sprint from stop to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds (0-100 km / h in 4.9 seconds). Signs emerged standing quarter mile in 13.2 seconds. Top speed is limited electronically to 155 mph (250 km / h).

Signature sound to accompany the wave power

Exhaust system from the BMW 1-Series M Coupe is set by M specifically for this new model. acoustic technique gives the car a unique personality in all phases of operation. M exhaust system easily recognized by the presence of four signing of the exhaust pipe.

Drive M Button

New BMW 1-Series M Coupe is also equipped with steering wheel-mounted M button Drive which makes its first appearance in 2006 M5. In the BMW 1-Series M Coupe, M button to activate the program sharp throttle response for the sportiest driving. This means that the engine performance characteristics can vary according to the driver's wishes.

6-speed Manual Transmission

A ratio 6-speed manual transmission is used for transmission power close to the rear wheels on the BMW 1-Series M Coupe. It is specifically designed to interact with high torque engines and have been suitable for this purpose with flood cooling system dry. A flywheel upgrade to high-torque applications installed between the engine and transmission. This transmission is operated using a lever M is very short gearshift. final drive ratio of 3.15:1.

Variable M differential lock, DSC with M Dynamic Mode

BMW 1-Series M Coupe is equipped with variable M differential lock. This produces the locking torque on-demand and variable, thus providing optimal rear-wheel drive traction on all road surfaces. The key response variable M differential rotation velocity difference on the right and left rear wheel, direct drive torque in a split second. So where there are significant differences in the coefficient of friction between the right and left rear wheels, for example, optimum traction and propulsion possible maximum is guaranteed. Centrifuge principle of variable M differential lock to support the dynamic nature of both rear wheels on slippery surfaces and when accelerating out of bends.

This gives the BMW 1-Series Coupe M benefits traction on slippery surfaces, snow and sand. It also supports auto-sporty style in the narrow, winding roads like a mountain pass since the optimum traction and a maximum torque available drive when accelerating out of corners. So in this model, the variable M differential lock proves ideal support for the dynamic nature of rear-wheel drive.

Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) from the BMW 1-Series M Coupe includes elements such as Antilock Brake System (ABS), a function of anti-slip control (ASC), brake assistant Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), hill-hold assistant to start off, Cornering Brake Control (CBC), the function of brake fade compensation and Brake drying function. In wet or slippery surfaces DSC secretly intervened to limit oversteer.

As an alternative to the status of normal operation, the driver can activate the M Dynamic Mode (MDM) MDM by pressing the button between the front air vents, increasing the threshold of intervention of the DSC system. MDM allows very little oversteer dynamic in specific situations to enable the vehicle yaw optimized for maximum performance. Demonstrations at the BMW Performance Center in Spartanburg, SC has been shown to activate the MDM mode lick the fastest-possible performance while still providing assurance and protection of the Dynamic Stability Control. MDM also facilitate the start of the snow or loose surface carefully controlled amount of wheelspin. DSC can be entirely disabled via a press-button long MDM (ABS remain active.)

Innovative Aerodynamics: Water Curtain

Consistency of form and function is very important for engineers at BMW M, the search for the perfect balance of various factors aerodynamics in wind tunnels. As a result, the BMW 1-Series M Coupe is equipped with the latest innovations BMW aerodynamics. air curtains, used here for the first time in a production vehicle BMW, enhance airflow around the wheel arches with the benefits of turbulence are significantly reduced.

Innovative aerodynamic features consist of openings on the outside bottom of the front fascia that routes high-pressure air through channels in every corner of the front. Channel approximately 10 x 3 cm wide and is designed to channel air to the openings in front of each wheel arch, where he disposed of through a very narrow hole at high speed. Air flow out covers the side of the front wheel like a curtain, thus reducing aerodynamic turbulence that is not profitable in the vicinity of rotating wheels.

This feature has a key role in the development of aerodynamic innovation future. An example of the principle of the air curtain was first presented in the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept study at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt in 2009, and the developer BMW 1-Series M Coupe takes the task of pioneering application of this element for the production vehicle. To do so, they utilize the unique capabilities of the new full scale "rolling road" wind tunnel testing at the BMW Group Aerolab Aerodynamic Center.

Design

There are three exterior paint finish to choose from for the BMW 1-Series M Coupe. In addition to non-metallic Alpine White and Black Sapphire Metallic, Valencia Orange Metallic available exclusively for high-performance compact sports car.

Strongly shaped front fascia is dominated by three large air intake that is safe for air cooling of high-performance engines. Air enters the central area is covered by a honeycomb grille-structured, while the two outer intake that actually open. This means that in every situation on the road or track, a number large enough cooling air is fed directly into the engine oil cooler on the right and to the additional cooling radiator on the left.

With greenhouse convey the impression of light, strong shoulder line of distinctive and complex sculpted surfaces symbolize athleticism precisely controlled in the profile. The wheel arches of the model 2-door bulge out especially voluminously both in front and rear. One of the characteristic features of M is a chrome gill elements in the front wheel arches are very elongated. It bears the turn indicator M brand and logos, as well as forming the starting point of the character line along the door handles to the rear. A vertical edge of the contour starts at the element that leads to a threshold gill side. Fine-tuning in the wind tunnel has also formed a design of the exterior mirror. In their basic form are the same as those of the BMW M3.

Strong wheel arches that also makes the back of the BMW 1-Series M Coupe seems to be very broad. The horizontal line is set emphasizes this impression. A wise spoiler lip on the trunk lid to produce additional downforce on the rear axle at high speeds. Rear fascia has a side opening that echoes the appearance of Water Curtain intake in the front fascia. M symmetry visual characteristics that are created by two sets of chrome twin tailpipes, each positioned towards the outer edge. L-shaped rear light clusters with red glass cover makes nighttime lighting characteristics. In this, the backlight is provided by two banks of lights fed by the LED units.

BMW 1-Series M Coupe features standard Adaptive Xenon headlights. Twin round lights cut at the top of the LED-fed "eyebrows." This is what creates the appearance focused BMW 1-Series M Coupe.

Interior Focus
